7. QbTest in Clinical Practice
Objective:
At the end of this section the user should have an understanding of the different ways in which QbTest can be of value within a clinical service.
QbTest is a class II medical device, is CE marked, and has been cleared by the FDA and EMA to be used both in assessment, and to measure treatment effects, among patients 6-60 years old.
At Baseline
At Qbtech, we recommend using QbTest at the beginning of the assessment pathway as this can lead to a reduction in the time to diagnosis. Using QbTest in the assessment process provides objective data, in addition to the information from the clinical interview and other sources such as rating scales.
Since ADHD is often part of a complex clinical picture, QbTest scores can help to clarify ambiguities from more subjective evidence sources. When used together with rating scales and clinical interviews, QbTest can improve diagnostic accuracy.
At Follow up
The introduction of QbTest into your assessment pathway also gives you a good baseline to follow up on treatment effects. It may be used both in the titration process – as well as in treatment follow up over time, helping the clinician to identify patients, at an early stage, who may have a less than optimal response to the treatment.
As an Audit Tool
In addition, if all new referrals to a service receive a QbTest, this can provide a useful database for collecting diagnostic and other demographic information on patients referred for ADHD assessment within your service.
