Qbtech Supports Shift to Needs-Led Neurodevelopment Care and Accelerates Its Vision for Connected Care Pathways
Qbtech welcomes the publication of the Government's independent review into mental health conditions, ADHD and autism1 and its call for earlier intervention, integrated services and better outcomes for patients.
The Review highlights the need for healthcare systems to move beyond diagnosis alone and focus on understanding need, functional impact and long-term outcomes. We believe this reflects the future direction of neurodevelopment care.
The Review found insufficient evidence of overdiagnosis at scale. Instead, it highlights the risk of misdiagnosis when assessments are brief, fragmented or rely on single sources of data.
For more than 20 years, Qbtech has helped clinicians bring objective measurement, a crucial additional data source, into ADHD assessment and treatment. Quantifying ADHD traits provides the patient and clinician alike a shared understanding and baseline from which to measure treatment effectiveness. Collected in a standardised way, it provides valuable and reliable data with which healthcare providers can make population-level care decisions.
Today, Qbtech works with the vast majority of NHS ADHD services and has generated one of the largest real-world ADHD datasets in the UK, supporting clinical decision making across assessment, treatment and outcomes. Our technology has at the heart of the Focus ADHD national programme from Health Innovation Networks since 2020. The programme has released over 200,000 hours of capacity and an estimated £90.4m of NHS budget2.
More recently we’ve brought in broader neurodevelopmental digital data collection. Our ambition is to help healthcare systems identify individual patients’ needs earlier, prioritise support more effectively and measure outcomes that matter, from referral and triage through treatment and long-term follow-up.
Tony Doyle, Interim CEO of Qbtech, said:
"This review marks a significant turning point for neurodevelopment services. The challenge facing healthcare systems is no longer simply how to diagnose more people. It is how to understand need earlier, provide support sooner and deliver better outcomes at scale.
"With one of the largest neurodevelopment datasets in the UK and deep partnerships across NHS services, Qbtech is uniquely positioned to help shape this next generation of care. We believe objective measurement, functional outcomes and connected digital pathways will become core infrastructure for modern neurodevelopment services, and we are investing to help healthcare systems make that transition."
Qbtech welcomes the Review's commitment to holding digital tools to the same evidence standards as any other intervention, including the NICE Evidence Standards Framework, DTAC and MHRA regulation. We look forward to working with DHSC, NHS England and ICBs on the 2027 pilots of validated digital tools for triage and assessment, and on a national quality framework that works for every provider.
