2. Overview of Test Administration & Standardisation

QbTest measures how your patient performs on a standardised task compared to an age and sex matched norm group. In order to achieve accurate and valid scores for your patient it is essential that the test is set up and administered according to the strict standardisation guidelines set by Qbtech.

All test administrators must have completed the QbTest Administration training module or attended Administration training provided by a Qbtech Clinical Advisor. Following training it is recommended that test administrators should shadow a more experienced colleague prior to administering a test to a patient.

All necessary standardised equipment for QbTest is provided by Qbtech:

  • Laptop with QbTest software
  • Camera with tripod/wall mount and USB connector
  • Headband with reflective marker
  • Responder button

Any problems with equipment should be referred to the technical support team at technical.support@qbtech.com
Tests should be conducted in a room away from noise with no visual distractions.

Patients should be seated and instructed according to the standardized protocols set by Qbtech. During the test the patient and the administer should not interact with one another, and any prompting from the administrator should be kept to a minimum.

Only patients who demonstrate that they understand the test instructions and execute the ability tests satisfactorily should be allowed to continue to do the test. No valid data can be obtained from patients who do not understand the instructions or who are unwilling to commit to the task.

Curtains or blinds should be closed to keep out direct sunlight which may cause reflections and all reflective materials removed from the patient.

Parents should not be in the room whilst the patient is being tested.

For full details of test administration guidelines please complete the Basic Administration module and/or refer to the appropriate section of the Quick Reference Guide which is available on the QbTest Administration Tool (QAT) at https://eu-qat.qbtech.com/
